The Role

An Associate Instructor at Building Momentum is expected to be a flexible and knowledgeable instructor of emerging technologies. This is a high-intensity, full-time position that will report to the Director of Training. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching and exceptional people skills. The candidate will also be familiar and comfortable with technology, and a desire to develop new skills, in areas including: 3D printing, Arduino, and Computer-Aided Design (CAD). Associate Instructors are expected to spend the majority of their time on Federal contracting training engagements; however, they can also be occasionally tasked with product design/development and supporting events held at our Co-Building space: “The Garden”.

In addition, Associate Instructors are given the opportunity to develop their own revenue streams and business opportunities built on their various skill sets through Building Momentum employee initiatives.

Associate Instructors are expected to travel on average 20-30% of the time, and may increase to up to 40%. Training engagements are located both domestically and internationally, and training sessions include longer than usual days. Training is often conducted on military bases and Department of Defense facilities.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Review, generate and collate training curriculum for upcoming sessions

  • Assess training equipment and consumables, including technology resources

  • Refresh or hone knowledge on the training subject

  • Conduct training as part of the Building Momentum team

  • Build and organize classrooms and workstations

  • Participate in regular peer reviews and engage in ongoing feedback mechanisms

  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Experience

A successful candidate will meet and/or exceed the following competencies:

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • Successful candidates with an Bachelor's degree will possess extensive experience in the subject matter of training and/or technology

  • 1-2 years of instructional and/or technology-related experience

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including reports and presentations

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally

  • Ability to pass base security

  • Advanced working proficiency in English; fluency preferred

Desired Skills and Experience

A successful candidate will meet and exceed the following competencies:

  • 2-5 years of instructional or classroom experience

  • Strong preference for a candidate with coursework in:

    • Engineering, Teaching, STEM

  • Intellectual curiosity in learning new skills, tools, and technologies
